Hawaii County White Pages Overview
Hawaii County Property White Pages
The Big Island runs its parcel data through the county Real Property Tax Office. The online system lets you look up owner, parcel, assessed value, and current tax bill for any property on the island. A White Pages search that begins with an address fits here. Search by TMK, address, owner name, or subdivision. The TMK for Hawaii County starts with a 3.
The portal below shows the main Big Island property tax search. It is free to use.
The Hawaii Property Tax site posts tax rates, exemption forms, and the search tool. The Hilo office is at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 4, Hilo, HI 96720. Phone (808) 961-8201.
Tax bills mail out twice a year. The first half is due August 20. The second half is due February 20. December 31 is the deadline to file exemptions. The 2025-2026 tax rates run $11.10 per $1,000 for Residential Tier 1 under $2 million, $13.60 per $1,000 for Tier 2 at $2 million and up, $10.70 for Commercial/Industrial, and $9.35 for Agricultural. Note: TMK maps help confirm a parcel before you request a formal copy of the deed through the state Bureau of Conveyances.
Hawaii County Clerk White Pages
The County Clerk acts as clerk to the County Council, keeps council records, runs elections, and processes many public record requests under Hawaii's UIPA law. The office sits at 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, HI 96720. Phone (808) 961-8255. A second office runs out of 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway in Kailua-Kona. The Kona office line is (808) 323-4277. District 3 covers Panaewa, Puainako, and part of Hawaiian Paradise Park. District 4 covers Hawaiian Beaches, Nanawale, and Leilani Estates. District 5 covers Keaau, Kurtistown, and Mountain View. Hawaii County also runs an online document archive, the Council Records System on Laserfiche Weblink. Default log-in uses the username "public" and the password "weblink808". The archive holds council bills, resolutions, agendas, minutes, meeting videos, and commission records. Full text search helps a lot when you do not have a document number on hand.
Hawaii Police Department Records
The Hawaii Police Department is the county-wide law enforcement agency for the Big Island. The Records Section holds police reports, incident logs, arrest records, and traffic accident reports. You can ask for a report in person at a local station or at the Records Section in Hilo. A valid photo ID is needed.
The HPD home page below shows the full station list, forms, and daily logs.
The Hawaii Police site posts online forms, news releases, and crime stats. The main Records Section is at 349 Kapiolani Street, Hilo, HI 96720. Phone (808) 935-3311.
Police stations are spread out across the island. You will find them in Kona, South Kohala, Puna, and Ka'u. Each one can help with reports tied to incidents in its area. A formal UIPA request can be sent when a record is not available through the usual channels. Fees vary by report type and length. Most requests process in a few business days.
Note: For a fatal traffic case or a felony that is still active, the report will not be released until the case closes.
Hawaii County Planning Department
The Planning Department covers zoning, subdivisions, land use, and Special Management Area permits for the Big Island. A White Pages search that looks at what has been built on a parcel runs through both this office and the Public Works Department. The Planning Department also keeps info on historical and cultural sites.

Third Circuit Court Records
The Big Island is the Third Circuit in the Hawaii State Judiciary. That covers the Circuit Court in Hilo, the Circuit Court in Kona, and the District Courts under each. Family Court sits under the Third Circuit too. Court files run through the statewide Hawaii State Judiciary portal. The eCourt Kokua tool is free and open all day. Search by name, case number, attorney, or ticket number.
Traffic cases, small claims up to $5,000, and minor criminal charges stay in District Court. Felonies, large civil cases, and probate run through Circuit Court. Family Court handles divorce, custody, child support, adoption, and protection orders. Sealed files and juvenile matters do not show in a public search. For a certified copy of any paper, reach out to the clerk at the court where the case was filed.
The Hilo courthouse is at 777 Kilauea Avenue. The Kona courthouse is at 74-5451 Kamakaeha Avenue, Building 74. Most hearings on the island split between those two locations, with a few at the Waimea court facility.
State Records for Big Island Searches
Land records for Hawaii County are not held by the county. They sit at the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances, a state office in Honolulu. You can still search the Bureau's online index from the Big Island at boc.ehawaii.gov. A basic search is free. Document images cost $1 per page. A certified copy is $5 for the first page, $1 for each added page. That is key for any White Pages lookup that ties to a deed or mortgage.
Vital records for births, deaths, marriages, and divorces in Hawaii County flow through the Hawaii Department of Health Vital Records Section. The first certified copy costs $10. Extras cost $4 at the same time. Records stay closed for 75 years unless you are the named party, a close relative, or a legal rep.

Records requests under the Uniform Information Practices Act, found in Chapter 92F of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, get ten business days for a full response, or five days for the open parts of a mixed record.
